A New Home Warranty Means A Better Built Home
Buying a home is often the largest single investment a
family will ever make. That’s why Delnor is pleased to be an
approved contractor of National Home Warranty Programs Ltd,
a leader in providing Canadian homeowners with peace of
mind.
As a National Home Warranty policy owner on a detached home in
fee simple ownership, your benefits include:
- A one-year warranty against defects in materials and
labour.
- A two-year warranty against defects in the major systems
in your home, the exterior cladding and the Building Code.
- A five-year warranty for any building envelope defects.
- A ten-year warranty for any structural defects.
- If you are required to move out of your home while
repairs are being made, the National will cover your
reasonable expenses to a maximum of $100 a day.
- Maximum protection of $200,000.
Your 2-5-10 Warranty
The warranty on your home is called a 2-5-10 warranty, which
describes the limits to your coverage. In the first year, your
home is covered for defects in workmanship and material, and in
years 1 and 2, your warranty covers defects in the major systems
of your house or unit such as heating, plumbing and electrical.
The "5" means that your home is covered against water ingress
for the first five years. The "10" means your home is covered
for major structural defects for a full 10 years from the time
the house is first occupied.
The Homeowner Protection Act & Regulations ("Act") became
effective July 1, 1999. Prior to the issuance of a building
permit, the Act requires all residential builders to be licensed
by the Homeowner Protection Office (HPO) and to provide the
"2/5/10" warranty from an approved third party warranty
provider.
